Bowling for Columbine essay

Bowling for Columbine

Weapons are too easy to get. In the United States alone there are 11,127 deaths every year from guns. In Canada, there are only 165 deaths every year from guns. People in the United States feel the need for guns for safety, but guns are what make it unsafe.
In the beginning of Bowling for Columbine, Michael Moore walks into a bank, and if he opened an account with that bank they would give him a free gun. This is an example of why weapons are too easy to get.
In the Columbine school shooting, the teenagers that committed the crime bought their 9mm ammunition from the local K Mart.  Because the ammunition was so easily gotten they were able to commit these murders.
A six year old child that was staying at his uncle’s house took a gun from the house and brought it to school. The child then shot a six year old girl that was in his class. The child did not know why he shot the girl but the shooting could have been prevented by properly locking the weapon up.
People in the United States feel the need for guns for safety because of all the shows about crime and what they see on the news. Guns do not make the United States safe it makes it dangerous because everyone is scared of everyone else.
In conclusion, weapons are too easy to get to kill someone. Michael Moore shows us this by getting a gun by opening an account in a bank. Also by showing us that ammunition is too easy to get to kill someone, and by showing us that even children are able to kill someone with a gun. These are all reasons why weapons are too easy to get.
