Wikileaks

William Crosbie, a canadian representative to afghanistan, said that while in a meeting with U.S ambassador Karl Eikenberry and Hamid Karzai, Karl spoke very critically about the misuse of power of karzai and his family and wanted the international community to prevent him from advancing in elections.

I think wikileaks are okay because they let us know what is going on the world and it gives us freedom of speech.

Movie Soundtracks Mimic Primordial sounds of Animal Distress

Some Movie Makers mimic sounds of animal distress in their films. This is known as non linear vocalization.
Film makers use these noises in horror, action, and war drama. They use these noises to catch the attention of the viewer. It also helps set the emotion of the setting. Scientists say that film makers have been doing this unconsciously, they use these noises because it sets the mood.

Scientists find secret to growing ridiculously huge pumpkins

Scientists say the bigger the gourd gets the more stress it experiences and triggers the pumpkin to grow. The weight generates tension which pulls cells apart and accelerates growth. Scientists crushed regular pumpkins to see what force they could handle and then applied that to making a bigger pumkin. Plastic deformations allows the fruit to distribute stresses so it can grow, sometimes adding 50lbs a day without breaking. I think this is pointless because they are wasting their money to make something that has no uses, bigger.

Bowling for Columbine essay

Bowling for Columbine

Weapons are too easy to get. In the United States alone there are 11,127 deaths every year from guns. In Canada, there are only 165 deaths every year from guns. People in the United States feel the need for guns for safety, but guns are what make it unsafe.
In the beginning of Bowling for Columbine, Michael Moore walks into a bank, and if he opened an account with that bank they would give him a free gun. This is an example of why weapons are too easy to get.
In the Columbine school shooting, the teenagers that committed the crime bought their 9mm ammunition from the local K Mart.  Because the ammunition was so easily gotten they were able to commit these murders.
A six year old child that was staying at his uncle’s house took a gun from the house and brought it to school. The child then shot a six year old girl that was in his class. The child did not know why he shot the girl but the shooting could have been prevented by properly locking the weapon up.
People in the United States feel the need for guns for safety because of all the shows about crime and what they see on the news. Guns do not make the United States safe it makes it dangerous because everyone is scared of everyone else.
In conclusion, weapons are too easy to get to kill someone. Michael Moore shows us this by getting a gun by opening an account in a bank. Also by showing us that ammunition is too easy to get to kill someone, and by showing us that even children are able to kill someone with a gun. These are all reasons why weapons are too easy to get.

Samsung Focus

Samsungs Focus is almost like the I-Phone. it is slightly larger and cheaper. The Focus is a touch screen phone and the home screen of the phone consists of tiles which select different experiences. Selecting a contact brings up the persons phone number, email, and face book profile all on one screen. Texting is quick and easy and messages send instantly. Overall the Focus is a well built phone and any cons will probably be fixed in the future.

Porsche unveils 4th-Gen Speedster

Porsche's latest car is the Speedster 356. It is like the original speedster built in 1953. There will be only 356 cars made. The car is a two seater and comes standard with a convertible top. It comes with a V6 3.8 litre with 408 horsepower and a seven speed semi-automatic transmission. Instead of using plastic side windows and other things used to minimize weight, like the original, the new Porsche uses technology to get its performance. Both the original and the new speedsters have high resale values. There is no word on pricing in the U.S. but the German version sells for 202,000 euros. Some of the technologies used are the active suspension management system to keep the car stabil at high speeds and in cornering.

Bowling for Columbine

Michael Moores thesis is that weapons are too easy to get. He shows this in the beginning of the movie by going to a bank, and by opening an account in the bank they give you a free gun of your choice.

He also shows this by showing archival footage of the columbine school massacre. Two young kids have weapons and force everyone into one room, then they open fire on all of the students, killing twelve and injuring many. The young kids who commited the murders had registered weapons and bought their ammo at the local K Mart. He used this video to show that weapons are to easy to get.
